The Intensive English Language Course at ULCI covers listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, with a particular emphasis on spoken English. The course is designed to help students use English confidently in everyday situations, improve their pronunciation and vocabulary and also help them learn grammar.
We assess the needs of all our students and work with them to build the specific skills they need according to their own purposes and goals. Our instructors take the students beyond typical classroom English and teach them to use English in the real world.
ULCI INTENSIVE ENGLISH COURSE CONTENT
The focus of this course is to develop skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
On Speaking we concentrate on:
• Day to day situational conversation such as telephone skills, meeting people etc.

LEVELS & APTITUDE TEST
The Intensive English Language course is conducted at six levels from Beginner to Advanced levels. The duration of each level is six weeks. Students are tested and interviewed by the academic personnel on the first day and then placed in the appropriate level. The appropriate level for each student is chosen based on the entrance test results, interview, professional and academic background, age, and the personal goals of the student.
ONLINE SELF-ACCESS LANGUAGE LAB
Our Online Self-Access Lab offers students materials designed to help improve their language skills in speaking, listening, writing, reading, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. The Self-Access Lab is designed for students to work on their own to enhance their language skills. The Lab contains state-of the-art learning equipment with headphones, computers, printed materials and audio files.
Activities in the language lab include watching videos designed to help improve the use of English in real life situations, practical conversations, and participation in a variety of activities and plays.
LIBRARY
The library facilities are open to all our students from Mondays to Fridays. The library is fully equipped with sufficient materials to meet the needs of students of all levels. In the Multimedia Language Lab, we use lively video programmes on topics of particular relevance and interest to both young and old. Students may borrow books related to their registered courses.
